A properly draped vintage canopy bed provides an elegant yet romantic touch to your bedroom. Sheer fabrics work well because they allow in the morning light, but you can use darker and bolder fabrics if the room is otherwise minimally decorated. Proper draping requires many meters of fabric, but the process is simple and does not require sewing or cutting.

Measure the width of the bed between the posts at the base of the bed. Measure from the tops of the posts to the ground and multiply this measurement by two. Add this measurement to the bed width gauge and add 12 inches to the total number of responses for sag. Acquire four panels of skirt fabric at the set measurement. Drape two of the panels over the top of the bed poster frame, overlapping the panels slightly in the middle and arrange them so that they overhang as much on both sides of the bed.
Drape a panel over the frame connecting the posts at the base of the bed. Drape the fourth panel over the frame at the tip of the bed. Adjust the panels so that they hang down an equal distance on each side of the frame. Pull the front of the foot panel toward the left post and tie it in place with a matching curtain tieback. Pull the rear of the panel to the right post and tie it in place. Separate the side panels at the split where the two lengths of fabric overlap. Pull the panel to the corresponding post and tie it with a curtain tieback. Adjust panels and ties.arched canopy bedding sets, arched canopy tops for beds, how to drape a canopy bed, vintage canopy
